Jennifer Brey took home the MVP award during our Annual Company Meeting & Awards Ceremony this month. We caught up with Jennifer following the Annual Company Meeting, below is our conversation:
PSB: Jennifer, Congratulations on your MVP award! What was your first thought when your name was called to receive this award?
Jennifer: I was genuinely humbled and proud at the same time. I am truly blessed to work with the most amazing team of people in the company. From the Executive Leadership all the way down the chain to my immediate co-workers, I am extremely grateful for the mentoring I have received as well as the confidence and trust that they have instilled in me to perform my best.
PSB: Tell us a bit about yourself and your role at PS Business Parks (PSB).
Jennifer: I have lived in Southern California almost my whole life. I have two sons and enjoy spending active quality time with them as much as possible. I started my career in Finance Operations in the Aerospace Industry after graduating from UC Santa Barbara and was excited to make the change to Commercial Real Estate when I came to work for PS Business Parks as a Property Manager for the Los Angeles Region.
PSB: You joined our SoCal property management team in 2008 but you later transitioned over to leasing, tell us more about your PSB journey.
Jennifer: I have worked for PS Business Parks for almost 14 years and started as a Property Manager. My background in customer service as well as residential property management helped me to easily transition into this role. I was promoted to Senior Property Manager a few years into my career with PSB. When a Leasing Director member of our team left the company, I saw an opportunity to try something new and grow my skills in a new direction.
PSB: You were also recently promoted to Senior Leasing Director, congratulations! How has PSB helped shape your career?
Jennifer: I have grown so much over the last 14 years with PSB and have been able to learn both sides of the business. Getting the opportunity to move around and try different roles is critical to growth. Getting to be both a Senior Property Manager and now a Senior Leasing Director helps me to do a better job for my customers as well as for the company because I have a well-rounded vantage point.
PSB: What is your proudest moment at PSB?
Jennifer: Winning the MVP award is at the top of the list, but honestly, I am proud every day to work with the team of people in the Southern California Division. They are really what makes me the happiest about working for PSB.
