Rich Guertin – Career Growth

Rich Guertin was promoted to Divisional Vice President earlier this year. We caught up with him recently to learn more about his experience at PSB, below is our conversation:

PSB: Rich, tell us a bit about yourself and your role at PS Business Parks (PSB).

Rich: I am PSB’s Divisional Vice President for Florida and oversee the leasing and property management teams. This division encompasses 3.9 million SF with 600+ customers across South Florida. As a market leader for Florida, I represent our company to customers, the business community, and brokers throughout the tri-county area.

PSB: How long have you worked at PSB, and how has your role changed?

Rich: My story in real estate is similar to many of my colleagues who started their journey in multi-family before transitioning to commercial. Before joining PSB, I worked in the multi-family industry for 20 years, overseeing several hi-rises in South Florida. When I made the jump to commercial real estate, I joined PSB as a Senior Property Manager and have grown with the company ever since.

PSB: You left PSB in 2011 and returned in 2015, what brought you back?

Rich: After 5 great years with PSB, I had an opportunity to oversee 7 million SF for a competitor and decided to leave the company in 2011. PSB’s leadership team approached me in 2015 with an opportunity to return to the company and it didn’t take me long to realize that I wanted to rejoin this incredible team. I have always believed in the people and culture of PSB; we not only represent PSB, but we are PSB.

PSB: How has PSB helped your career development?

Rich: PSB has greatly impacted my career. I’ve had the opportunity to grow within the company, taken on more responsibility and mentored a number of team members. I especially like how the company has maintained its entrepreneurial spirit and is always willing to listen to its employees about ways to improve.

PSB: What advice can you give someone who is trying to advance their career?

Rich: My advice to someone looking at advance their career is to always do the right thing, work hard, never stop learning, lead by example, have a good attitude, and be a flexible team member.
